PFAS-free silence - Berucoat AK und BECHEM Coating AK

The quieter the vehicle, the more noticeable every sound becomes. A creak inside the cabin, a rubbing sound between materials, a barely audible jerk—all of these are more noticeable today than ever before. Especially in quiet vehicles—and particularly in electric vehicles—acoustic quality determines comfort, perceived value, and the overall sense of well-being inside the vehicle.

With the new PFAS-free generation of our anti-creak coatings—Berucoat AK and BECHEM Coating AK—we have developed a solution specifically for this purpose. These smart lubricating coatings were designed specifically for the interiors of modern vehicles, where they reliably ensure a relaxing, quiet ride. Transparent, virtually invisible, and formulated with innovative BECHEM Nexus Technology, they tackle the root cause of unwanted squeaks and rattles without altering the appearance or feel of the components. They are used wherever materials come into contact with one another and generate movement within the vehicle interior. The range extends from cockpit and door components to seats, seatbelt systems, armrests, and sunroofs, as well as light strips, adjustment mechanisms, transmissions, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning controls—and all other areas where creaking noises need to be prevented.

These coatings specifically reduce friction, prevent stick-slip effects, and ensure long-lasting, effective noise dampening on a wide variety of material combinations, such as PVC/PVC, TPO/PVC, PMMA/ABS, or clear coat/PVC. Whether plastics, leather, films, metals, or coated surfaces: slip coatings ensure smooth motion and thus make a decisive contribution to high-quality acoustics in the vehicle interior. At the same time, they remain virtually touch-dry, colorless, odorless, and permanently stable. What this new generation does not contain is particularly important. The Berucoat-AK and BECHEM-Coating-AK series are formulated to be PFAS-free and SVHC-free. In this way, they combine top-tier acoustic performance with a clear commitment to sustainability, environmental compatibility, and regulatory future-proofing. The products are available in both water-based and solvent-based formulations and can be flexibly integrated into existing processes. Application is performed via spraying, dipping, or targeted application, with thin layers ranging from 5 to 30 μm achievable.

A key component of this approach is our research laboratory. Here, we simulate noise phenomena realistically on a laboratory scale, analyze material combinations and motion profiles, and use these findings to develop precisely tailored solutions.
