A submarine slowly emerging from the depths of the water and maneuvering into the lift of a ship is a spectacular moment. Our lubricants play a decisive roll in maritime facilities. They lubricate the powerful spur gears of the heavy-duty winch that propels the gigantic ship’s lift. The lift of the ship is lowered into water. It is equipped with a stable platform with a transport system that weighs a colossal 2,700 tons and is used for bringing a submarine afloat. The winch slowly pulls the submarine up and over a transfer system into the dry dock in a safe and controlled manner.

These winch are designed for maximum performance thanks to their ability to handle forces up to 3,500 kN, winch power of 12 kW, and a lifting speed up to 0.4 m/min. The BECHEM lubricant Berusynth 220 H1 is a high-performance synthetic lubricating oil classified under Water Hazard Class 1 (WGK 1) that guarantees that the eight cable winches used function seamlessly. Our high-performance lubricating oil does much more than meet the high requirements of circular lubrication. It also delivers outstanding performance.

In addition, it’s quite remarkable that Berusynth 220 H1 is used in both the food industry and the marine industry. This example highlights the impressive performance of the H1‑certified lubricant Berusynth 220 H1. Although subject to strict requirements, it performs on par with conventional products, making it an excellent choice for maritime systems. Aside from lubricants for the gears, we additionally provide the seawater-resistant BECHEM High‑Lub SW 2, a corrosion protection grease with dewatering additives. It is used to lubricate and protect steel cables from wear.
